SOUTHBOUND ARE HEADING NORTHBOUND

Southbound, a Norwich based modern country rock band, will be heading northbound to bring its unique country rock experience to The Venue Holt.

Saturday 1st April will see the seven piece band perform a set of modern country anthems,  creating the sounds of Nashville in a toe tapping, high energy set.

Country fans will be well catered for, with covers from the likes of Garth Brooks, Luke Combs, Carrie Underwood, Ashley McBryde, The Zac Brown Band and Dolly Parton. For those just dipping their toes into the country genre, Southbound has developed a ‘crossover’ set, taking rock and pop anthems and giving them a unique country twist.

“The flexibility we have to play a pure country set, or mix it up with our crossover songs when some of the audience aren’t pure country aficionados, means our appeal is widened and introduces more people to this wonderful genre” said Charley South, bass player.

“Who would have thought Lady Gaga or Ed Sheeran would sound so good with a country twist!“, she continued.

Following its debut gig at the Norfolk Showground in August 2020, the band, which features seven powerful harmonies, has seen follower numbers grow at each gig. With multi-instrumentalists in the band, it boasts a collection of five guitarists, three drummers, two mandolin players, two bassists, a fiddler and keyboardist to create that authentic country sound.

“The country scene has really grown in the UK; you only have to look at the major festivals, such as Country 2 Country, and how quickly big name US artists are selling out here, alongside our wonderful homegrown talent”; said Ben Reeves, guitarist.

2023 promises to be a busy year for the band, with gigs booked as far afield as Cheshire, Gloucestershire and Northamptonshire, plus a variety of East Anglian venues.

Catch Southbound at The Venue Holt on Saturday 1st April from 7.30pm (doors open at 6.30pm). Tickets are £8.00 and are available via Eventbrite.
